ABOUT

INSALACO

CHRISTINA

I am a licensed counselor and Lacanian psychoanalytic practitioner. I received my master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland in 2018 and my doctorate in Clinical Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work in 2024. I am a contributing editor for the Journal of Clinical Social Work and adjunct professor at Smith College. I currently am a Candidate Psychoanalyst at the Lacan School for Psychoanalysis.

As a clinician and researcher with experience in the areas of clinical psychology, clinical social work, and psychoanalysis I offer a unique set of skills to help you recognize and understand the reasons you seek treatment. In my practice I offer a warm, nonjudgmental, and confidential space for you to say whatever comes to mind. Most importantly, I am trained to listen, and I can help you put your pain into words so that lasting change may occur.

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis offers

It involves a mutual emotional investigation between the individual and the therapist, and it focuses on the unique singularity of the individual seeking treatment. Unlike other therapies that offer quick fixes, stigmatizing diagnoses, short-term symptom reduction, and a one-size-fits-all manualized approach, psychoanalysis offers profound, lasting changes that other therapies rarely can. Psychoanalytic treatment focuses on the unconscious mental life of the individual, and a psychoanalyst centers their attention on the words and phrases the individual uses to describe their life experiences, wants and beliefs, and symptoms. An attuned psychoanalyst facilitates a way for the individual to hear herself differently in order to create new ways of making life more livable. As this process unfolds, the individual may notice an increase in self-understanding, as well as a deepening insight into their emotional conflicts that motivate their behavior. With insight gained, long-lasting change can occur—beyond symptom relief. The goal of psychoanalytic treatment ultimately allows for the individual to confront themselves head-on and assume responsibility for they want in life.

TELE-PSYCHOANALYSIS

I currently offer remote treatment to teenagers, adults, and couples in California, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, Washington D.C., and Virginia via a convenient, HIPPA-compliant, and user-friendly telehealth platform.

SUPERVISION

I am a Registered Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) in the state of Maryland. I hold my Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) license, which means that I meet the national professional standards of supervision and can provide supervision to pre-licensed and licensed clinicians.

Standard supervision usually consists of weekly meetings for as long as needed, in which the clinician brings in case material for discussion and guidance.
